Jessup University was originally founded by Dr. Eugene Sanderson in the greater San Francisco Bay Area during the Great Depression of the 1930s. He would later ask William Jessup to carry on the vision - and in 1939, Bill and his wife, Carrie, did just that - with an initial student body of fourteen students and a curriculum focused on biblical study and preparation for church vocations.
As of the 2023-24 Academic year, Jessup had over 1,800 students enrolled in Traditional Undergraduate, Online, Graduate, and Certificate programs. The University offers over 20 majors and approximately 60 programs. The goal for all programs is expressed in the mission statement: “In partnership with the Church, the purpose of Jessup University is to educate transformational leaders for the glory of God.” In addition to the San Jose, CA campus, Jessup has expanded to Rocklin, CA and Portland, OR, as well as their online curriculum. Some of the academic majors include aviation, biology, computer science, environmental science, kinesiology, leadership, criminal justice, digital communication, art & design, theatre, and master’s degrees.
Thanks to your generous tithes and offerings, this mission field remains one of three global missions we currently support.
